Overtime by Toni Aleo Blog Tour, Review & Giveaway

Overtime by Toni Aleo
Series: Assassins Series #7
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Down and out with an injury keeping him away from the game, Assassins’ defenseman Jordie Thomas lives for the blades of his skates on the ice and the feeling of oblivion off it. With no choice but to heal, he’s forced away from the sport that runs through his veins. With everything at stake and darkness setting in, he quickly finds himself spiraling even further out of control. As his life begins to come crashing down around him and his contract with the Nashville Assassins on the line, he’s given an ultimatum. Ready or not, Jordie is forced to face his past, the fears that consume him, and the one woman he let walk away.

Kacey King had her professional dreams come true, yet her heart was battered and broken. With an Olympic gold medal around her neck, she’s ready to look forward to the future but without the one man she wanted in it. She’s missing the key pieces of her heart she left months ago with the only person who was capable of destroying it, causing her to falter in all her plans to move on.
>In the game of life, there are winners and losers, and neither Jordie nor Kacey want to be on the losing bench. If only Jordie could convince Kacey he’s a changed man and that he wants her right by his side as his MVP for the biggest and best parts of a life they build together. With emotions running high and the game on the line, can two proud people find happiness with each other, or will their hearts and souls be left in the cold? Will they see that sometimes having someone by your side who knows the good, bad, and broken is better than going it alone and losing everything through the back of the net? They are out of time on the game clock and fighting for the win of their lives.

But overtime was made for an Assassin like Jordie.
REVIEW:
I imagine anyone watching me read this book probably thought I was a crazy lady. I was literally laughing one minute and then crying the next. This book literally shreds your heart but then starts to repair it, and then rips it apart again. It's a vicious cycle. I loved this book, everyone has a little crazy in them right?

You can feel the love that Jordie and Kacey have, the struggle that Jordie has with his alcoholism, you just have so many emotions going all over the place reading this book. It's crazy, I'm telling you! Everyone should have parents like Kacey and Karson, what a truly amazing couple.

Jazz hands!!! Whenever I see the words Jazz Hands, I'm going to think of this book. No matter how many books I read, I'll remember this one! Do guys really talk about pinterest? Too funny!!!

I absolutely loved this book! Love this series (yes, you get to see some of the other guys)! Not disappointed one little bit with this book!!! Go forth and buy this one!!!

“What? Scared I’ll get my feelings hurt?”
“You don’t have feelings, Jordie. You’re allergic to them,” she said simply, her hand digging deeper into his skin.
He smiled, covering the grimace that was surfacing. She did her job great, but she had always been a little rough. “That’s not true. I have feelings for you.”
She paused and looked up at him. “Wanting to fuck me may be a feeling but not the feelings I want.”

And no, I don’t know how to love someone, but then sometimes I think maybe I do. Because when I look at Mena, I love her. So fucking much. I know I love your family, and I also know that I have thought of you every second of every day for the last ten months. So while I may not know fully know how to love someone, I don’t want to try with anyone but you.”

Clipped By Love by Toni Aleo

Rating: 5 Stars

Title: Clipped b Love

Author: Toni Aleo

Publisher: Toni Aleo

Genre: Romance, Sports, Coming of Age

Pages: 448 pages

Summary:

Things are heating up for the Sinclair boys! With one already in the NHL, Jayden Sinclair is hoping to be next!

This has been the toughest year of my life. I watched my brother go into the draft without me, my mom got divorced, and the weight of my family’s issues is heavy on my shoulders. I feel like it’s my job to fix everything while working my butt off in school and trying to make my game better. I have to go into the draft. It will give my family the support they need, and it will prove that I’m good enough. But to get there, I have to show I can be the best captain for the Bellevue Bullies. The spot is mine—no one can take it. First though, Jude is making me go on a brother’s weekend. Innocent enough, I guess…until I see her. She’s the biggest competitor I’ve ever faced. Not only for my spot but also my heart. It’s hard to ignore someone like Baylor Moore.

I don’t lose. I can’t. My dad has bred me to be the best in anything I do. I am driven, I am smart, and I am going to be the first woman in the National Hockey League. No two ways about it. I’ve worked too hard. I’ve been through too much not to have what I want. I know I can do it. I will make my dad proud, and no one will stand in the way of that. That is, until I let him in. He scares me. He makes me feel. And he could very well be the one person who can make me want more than just to win.

We both have the same goal. Victory. But how do you compete against the person you want to win? It’s not easy. Love isn’t something you can control. It isn’t like a puck that can be handled by a stick. No, it has a mind of its own and does what it wants.

Neither of us saw it coming, and we really don’t know if there is a way to score, especially when you’re being Clipped by Love.

Review:

This book is hilarious at times. I was laughing out loud throughout most of the book and crying in other parts. I loved to see how Jayden and Baylor grew as a couple. How they communicate, how Jayden is with Baylor just makes your heart hurt but in a good way.

Jayden is a great man. There should be more men like him out there. He listened to what Baylor was saying and not saying. They have a lot of obstacles to get through and we get to ride along for the journey. I swear some of the things that come out of their mouths is something that me and my friends would say. It cracks me up!

You get to see how the Bullies pull together as a team, on and off the ice. Baylor really needed to see that. She's been hurt in the past and has insecurities. I love getting to see Elli and Shea, Phillip and Reese. Makes me want to do a re-read of the Assassin Series.

Review:
This book starts out where Whiskey Prince ends. You have to read Whiskey Prince to know what is going on in this book. So, if you haven't read it, you need to stop reading this and go start that book.

I'm going to start off saying that I love Toni Aleo. I mean I love her!! Unfortunately, this book just didn't seem to hit all the emotions that I'm used to having when reading her books.

Ok, I felt that Amberlyn was actually whiny in this book. She was not my favorite heroine. I understand she had lost her mom leaving her an orphan, moved to a new country, etc. She had met Declan, who I want as my bbf or if I can incorporate some of his mannerisms and demeanor into my husband that would work for me too.  She shows how much she loves Declan but then ends up second guessing herself way too much.  She does show her strength in places but when it comes to Declan she needs to be talked to.

Declan is a sexy talking man with an Irish brogue. Yum! That man is hot! He will do anything and everything to make sure that Amberlyn knows how much she is loved by him. He goes way above what the average guy would do to make sure that his woman knew she was loved. There was a few times I was throwing my hands up for him and thinking "really?" He has a lot more patience than I do!

Fiona, Amberlyn's cousin, has no filter and cracks me up big time. It's good that Amberlyn has her to help settle her and help her think straight. She actually gives pretty good advice most of the time. I like the interaction between her and Kane, Declan's best friend. You can see the love that they have too.

Lena breaks my heart in this story but she shows how strong she is and what she is capable of.

Declan's mom is something else. In Whiskey Prince I couldn't stand the dad and now it's flipped to where I can't stand the mom. Crazy, I tell you!!

When Amberlyn Reilly loses her mother, her whole world comes crashing down. Having been caretaker to her for most of her teenage years, Amberlyn is inexperienced in many aspects of life. She hasn’t had time to live, have fun, or enjoy even the little things. It’s only when a letter from her mother, asking her to fulfill three things, sends her off to Ireland to live a life she never thought possible that she begins to heal.
